The Dalmia Bharat Group reported a strategic acquisition of former cement assets of Jaiprakash Associates (JAL) across Central India from the Adania Group. The asset portfolio includes the Rewa integrated unit (photo) in Madhya Pradesh with 3.3 Mta clinker and 1.1 Mta cement grinding capacity as well as 3 cement grinding (blending) units with 4.1 Mta capacity in Uttar Pradesh. The deal, which is valued at Rs. 28.5 bn (US$310 million), is expected to close within two weeks and will increase Dalmia Cement’s total capacity to 54.7 Mta. Due to an insolvency, the plants have not been operated for some years, however the plants can be restarted in Q2 2027. The acquisition reinforces Dalmia’s ambition of becoming a major pan-India cement player with a significant market share and strong logistics reach.
