At its La Malle cement plant Holcim France trialled hydrogen as alternative fuel and were the first in the industry to achieve injection rates of more than 50%. With the remaining fuel mix from biogenic and other alternative sources the kiln was powered with carbon-neutral fuels. The La Malle factory in Bouc-Bel-Air in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region supplies the regional market and has a cement production capacity of 0.7 Mta, being a leader in low carbon cements with a clay calcining line, using Holcim’s propriety ProximA Tech technology.
