In Montenegro is a construction boom. Therefore, it is not surprising that a new cement plant is discussed in the country. The Jagnjilo site near the town of Pljevlja has been considered particularly important, as there are significant amounts of marl, a key raw material for cement production, announced by the Ministry of Mining, Oil and Gas. In July 2023 a feasibility study has been published by a working group. The proposed cement factory, planned to meet stringent ecological standards, would contribute to economic diversification, while utilizing by-products from the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant (photo: 210MW TPP power plant), thereby reducing its negative environmental impact and resolving the cement supply in the country.
