Cementos Argos is considering a return to Venezuela after 20 years of expropriation. The company still has a presence in Venezuela through its subsidiary Corporación de Cemento Andino , which is currently part of a legal process regarding expropriation by the Venezuelan Government. Venezuela has been entered in 1998 with the purchase of the Trujillo-state cement facility with a capacity of about 0.75 Mta. The cement plant has been lost in 2006 during expropriation under the late Hugo Chávez government, while Argos has not received a compensation. Today Cementos Argos operates 8.5 Mta cement capacity in Colombia (Photo: Cartagena plant) and 5.9 Mta in Central America and the Caribbean (CCA).
