Crown cement, one of the leading cement manufacturers in Bangladesh, started its sixth cement mill this month at West Mukterpur, Munshiganj on the bank of the river Dhaleswari (photo), south of Dhaka. The company selected an efficient vertical roller mill (VRM) with a capacity of 8250 tpd which increases Crown’s cement capacity from 3.3 Mta to 5.7 Mta. VRMs have gained in popularity, thanks to benefits in saving energy and space as well as allowing a higher product versatility. In 2022, the Infrastructure Development Company (IDC) granted a US$25m loan to Crown Cement to support this investment.
