Cementos La Cruz in Spain has received a grant of € 4.5m by the EU for a green cement production unit. The company operates a 1.5 Mta cement grinding plant with 2 mills in Abanilla (Murcia). The planned green cement will drastically reduce the clinker content by using different supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) and will source its electricity from biofuel energy. The plan is to reduce the CO2 emissions by 0.4 Mta in a production period of 10 years.
