After successful cold tests with the new kiln7 line at Cimpor’s Alhandra cement plant in Portugal, the first kiln firing has been reported. The project is intended for a production capacity increase from 3000 tpd to 3600 tpd, as well as allowing thermal substitution rates to increase from 40% to more than 80%, in order to guarantee, by the end of 2025, the decarbonization of an additional 190 000 tons of CO2 per year (we reported here 16.05.2025). Now, the commissioning team from KHD and the partner companies work on hot commissioning and the production of the first clinker.
