FLSmidth commissions clay calcination in Ghana

CBI Ghana update

FLSmidth is in the commissioned phase for CBI Ghana’s clay calcination plant in the Port of Tema. The plant, which is equipped with a flash calcination system has a capacity of 0.405 Mta, what makes it the largest operational clay calcination plant, worldwide. The investment costs were given with US$ 80m, Norfund sponsored 77.4 MNOK in the project. The calcined clay shall substitute about 30% of clinker, which has been imported before. In 2022 Heidelberg Materials acquired a 50% stake in CBI Ghana Ltd.
