Rohrdorfer Zement awarded Fives FCB a contract for the supply of a 50 tpd clay calcination unit at the Rohrdorf plant in Bavaria, Germany. The clay calcination unit will be integrated within the clinker production line and allow Rohrdorfer to test various clay sources and qualities for clinker substitution and to reduce CO2 emissions, targeting net zero emissions by 2038. The clay calcination unit will be supplied by FCB on EPC basis and will feature a 3-stage preheater, a flash calciner (photo showing a pilot installation) and a patented color control system.
