Heidelberg Materials plans major expansions in India

Heidelberg Materials, which has a 69.39% ownership in HeidelbergCement India Ltd. (HCIL), will significantly expand its capacity of 12.3 Mta in the country with two projects (photo existing HCIL cement plant). The construction of the new integrated 3.0 Mta capacity plant (6000 tpd kiln) in Kalaburagi, formerly known as Gulbarga in Karnataka, started this year and shall be finished in 1.H in 2028, while a new fly ash blending and grinding unit with unknown capacity and timeline is planned in the Khandwa district in Madhya Pradesh. According to the company’s regulatory filing, the grinding unit project will involve long-term fly ash sourcing arrangements, with leased land allocated for the construction.
