After opening this month the 6000 tpd clinker manufacturing plant (photo) in Sebit in West Pokot in Kenya, the Devki Group plans to further expand its capacity in Kenya. Cemtech, a branch of subsidiary Simba Cement submitted an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report to Kenya’s National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) to establish a new clinker factory in the Kitui County. The plant will probably have a capacity of 1.2 to 1.8 Mta. About two years ago, the Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK) had approved the acquisition of Cemtech from India’s Sanghi Group by Simba Cement. With the new cement factory, the Devki Group will become a major player in Kenya with an impact on the East African cement industry.
