The CO₂NTESSA CCS project by the NEXE Group has been included in the list of strategic investment projects of the Republic of Croatia. NEXE operates a 1.0 Mta cement plant in Našice, Croatia. The cement kiln shall be modified with the Oxyfuel process of thyssenkrupp Polysius to capture more than 0.7 Mta of CO2 and store it onshore in the Bockovci saline aquifer, located 38 km from the plant. Total investment cost in the CO₂NTESSA project will be EUR 400 million to allow operation before 2030.
