Mannok Cement, formerly the Quinn Group, reported 59 million kWh of energy savings since 2017 at its 1.2 Mta cement plant in Derrylin, Northern Ireland. In 2022 alone, the savings have been 8 million kWh, through nine key thermal and electrical energy improvement projects. These include the repairing of false air leaks in key areas, optimising raw materials and investing in technology upgrades. Anyhow, the initiatives will continue with the installation of a Jetflex burner for secondary fuels, upgrading grate cooler fans, a waste heat recovery system and other projects.
