Peru’s Cemento Yura, which is part of the Gloria Group, inaugurated a 28 MWp photovoltaic plant at its Arequipa cement plant. The solar park comprises 51,264 photovoltaic modules (photo) over 45 hectares and required an investment of about US$ 23.5m. It can generate about 80.65 GWh annually, which corresponds to about 30% of the plants electricity needs and highlights Yura’s commitment in reducing its carbon footprint. The plant is the first of its kind in the country’s cement sector.
