SigmaRoc and Arcelor Mittal reported progress with their AMeLI Green Lime project in Dunkirk in France. In the joint-venture of the two companies a new quicklime plant (illustration) with a capacity of 0.9 Mta is constructed on the QPO quay of Dunkirk’s harbour. The produced quicklime is used in Arcelor’s steel plant, which delivers process heat for the lime plant. The CO2 from the lime plant shall be captured and send to Dunkirk’s CO2 hub. The project, announced in Sept. 2022, has estimated costs at about € 100m. Plant commissioning shall be in 2025.
