The Rohrdorfer Group has set itself the goal of CO2 neutrality by 2038. At its Hatschek cement plant (photo) in Gmunden in Austria, Rohrdorfer is installing a CO2 pilot capture plant based on the Andritz amine technology as well as a membrane separation system for recovering the CO2 to be purified and synthesized into formic acid. With this CCUS process, Rohrdorfer is participating in the joint ZEUS (Zero Emissions through Sector Coupling) project, which is funded by the Austrian’s Climate and Energy Fund and is being carried out as part of the Energy Research Program started in 2022 (total costs: EUR 16.8 million, funding EUR 7.7).
