Switzerland and Norway sign CO2 storage deal

CCS Ceremony

Switzerland and Norway have signed a bilateral agreement on the future storage of CO2 under the North Sea, creating a legal framework for the cross-border transport and storage of CO2. Around a dozen companies from the two countries have launched pilot projects within this framework. The aim of these projects is to find out how carbon capture removal from the atmosphere and cross-border storage can be integrated into international climate policy.
