Brazil’s Verdera inaugurated a new waste processing unit with a capacity of 48,000 tpa in Itaperuçu, Paraná. Verdera is Votorantim Cimentos’ sustainable waste management and disposal unit, which has worked since 1991 with co-processing and was a pioneer in bringing this technology to Brazil. At the new site in Itaperuçu, different industrial, commercial and urban wastes will be received that cannot be recycled. These wastes will be treated for co-processing at the company’s Rio Branco do Sul cement plant in Parana. The new processing unit is installed at an area of 4,400 square meters, having a state-of-the-art waste shredder that will allow Verdera to treat new types of non-recyclable materials for sustainable disposal, such as furniture, palletized products and waste stored in drums.
