Cimento Itambé has inaugurated a new 0.6 Mta kiln at its Balsa Nova plant in the Curitiba metropolitan region in Parana, Brazil. Covering a total area of 2.5 million m², the company operates with an annual installed capacity of 3 million tons of cement. Its limestone reserves exceed 230 million tons. It supplies the states of Paraná, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo, and Mato Grosso do Sul, producing and selling four types of cement. The new kiln line will replace up to 50% of fossil fuels with renewable energy sources like biomass and industrial waste, coinciding with Itambé’s decarbonization strategy.
