Denmark launched its first CO2 storage reservoir

GreensandCO2

The Greensand carbon capture and storage (CCS) project in Denmark is the world’s first cross-border offshore CO2 storage reservoir. From 2025 about 0.4 Mta CO2 shall be stored in the Nini West reservoir in the North Sea, 1800m below the seabed. Project leader INEOS Energy announced that the pilot project has been finished and that a safe storage of CO2 from CCS-plants has been verified. The ambitions plans are to store up to 8.0 Mta of CO2 by 2030 to mitigate climate change.
