Holcim Colombia buys clean power to reduce scope 2

ISAGEN Colombia Sogamosa 819MW Hyropower 1

Holcim is committed to the transition towards renewable energies. In Colombia, Holcim uses electrical energy from 100% renewable sources in its Nobsa cement plant (Boyacá) and the Puente Aranda concrete plant (Bogotá). The electricity is purchased from Colombia’s 2nd largest producer ISAGEN, who operates 3000 MW from hydropower (photo: 819 MW Sogamosa), wind and solar. In the first six months about 84,500 MWh of electricity were purchased, reducing Holcim’s scope 2 carbon emissions. For the verification, Holcim is using I-REC certificates (International Renewable Energy Certificates).
