Holcim to produce calcined clay cements in Mexico

With its strategic investment of USD 55m at its Tabasco cement plant in Macuspana, Holcim Mexico will start for the first time the production of calcined clay cements (LC3) (we reported here 14.02.2024). However, Holcim did not release any information how the calcined clay will be sourced or if they will install their own production plant either at the Tabasco plant or elsewhere. Anyhow, the company plans to reduce the specific CO2 emissions to 475 kg/t cementitious material by 2030.
