Caribbean Cement’s (CCCL’s) expansion project at the Rockfort cement plant in Jamaica is progressing towards full completion next year. CCCL, which is owned by Trinidad Cement Limited (TCL), in which Cemex has a 69.83% shareholding, plans to increase the plant’s cement capacity by 0.3 Mta. With an investment of US$ 40m the combustion process of kiln 5 will be improved and the clinker production will be increased from 2600 to 2850 tpd. The investment is to meet the increased local demand for cement, strengthen the self-sufficiency of the local cement industry and help to reach Cemex’s ambitious ‘Future in Action’ CO2 program.
