The KHD Group will be carrying out a FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) study for the new Oxyfuel kiln at Heidelberg Materials’ Geseke cement plant in Germany. The contract is part of the planning phase of the GeZero CCS project, which aims to capture over 0.7 Mta CO2. Supported by the EU Innovation Fund, the captured CO2 will be purified and liquefied on-site before the transport to the North Sea for permanent geological storage (we reported here 09.12.2024 and 18.12.2023). The plant planning is expected to be completed by the end of 2025, with construction scheduled to start in 2026.
