Türkiye’s Limak Cement started LC3 cement production
Limak Cement has produced and certified Türkiye’s first Limestone Calcined Clay Cement (LC3) at their 2.34 Mta capacity Limak Trakya plant (photo) in West Türkiye. A certification process for the calcined clay cement has successfully been completed under the EN-197-1 standard for CEM II/A-M (Q-LL) 52.5 N, which allows up to 20% calcined clay in LC3-mixtures. At the moment the production of LC3 cements for reducing the clinker content in cement production and carbonisation is limited only to a few plants worldwide. Accordingly, Limak Cement is proud to have integrated this low-carbon cement into the product portfolio.
Saudi Arabia’s cement dispatch down -4.0% in 02M 2026
In the first 2 months in 2026, Saudi Arabia’s cement dispatch (local dispatch and exports) decreased by -4.0% to 9.392 Mt, after 9.782 Mt in the same period last year and 8.892 Mt in the year before.
Italy’s cement production up +0.8% in year 2025
In the year 2025, Italy’s cement production increased by +0.8% to 19.507 Mta, after 19.361 Mta in 2024 and 18.815 Mta in the 2023.
US Georgia Power to harvest ash from Arkwright utility
US Georgia Power will extract and transport over a period of 6 years about 2 Mt of coal ash currently stored at its former Arkwright coal-fired power plant in Macon, Georgia, which has been retired in 2002. For this plant a permit has been received to treat the water generated by the removal of the plant’s CCR units (Coal Combustion Residual). After dewatering, the ashes shall be transported by truck to Georgia Power’s nearby 1540 MW Branch power plant (photo) in Milledgeville, which had been retired in 2015 and where ECO Material Technologies has a contract to harvest 0.6 Mta of ashes for use in the cement and concrete industry starting in 2026.

In the first 2 months in 2026, Argentina’s cement dispatch decreased by -5.7% to 1.494 Mt, after 1.584 Mt in the same period last year and 1.461 Mt in the year before.
US Cement dispatch down -0.6% in 11M 2025
In the first 11 months in 2025 the US cement dispatch (Portland, blended and masonry cement) declined by -0.6% to 79.111 Mt, after 79.608 Mt in the last year and 84.493 Mt in the year before.
