Peru’s leading cement producer, Cementos Pacasmayo, intends to install a separate grinding unit (GU) at its cement plant La Libertad, about 670 kms north of Lima. Cementos Pacasmayo owns three cement plants with a combined capacity of 4.9 Mta, of which the La Libertad facity is the largest one with 2.9 Mta capacity. The company’s plan was proposed to Peru’s Ministry of Production with the objective to lower the clinker-to-cement ratio, cut energy use, and reduce the plant’s carbon footprint. The company estimates an investment of PEN33.5 m (about US$8.8m) for the project, which shall be operational by next year.
