Türkiye’s Medcem plans to expand its terminal network

Medcem Port 1

Medcem established a transhipment port in Silifke/Taşucu (photo) in the Mersin province in Türkiye. The port facility comprises 4 cement silos and 1 clinker silo with a combined storage capacity of 43 kt, servicing vessels of up to 60,000 dwt from 3 berth. The port has been established to export cement from the Mersin plant, which recently commissioned a new 9000 tpd kiln line (we reported 15.12.2023), increasing the plant’s capacity to 6.5 Mta clinker and 8.0 Mta cement. Medcem plans to export most of that cement and to install an international terminal network. The company, which is part of the Eren Group, aims to transform into a recognized global brand, while operating internationally and decarbonising its operations.
