Brazil’s leading cement producer Votorantim has announced an investment of BRL260m (US$51m) to expand its cement plant in the state of Tocantins with an additional grinding line. The project, which is scheduled for completion in July 2028, will add 0.5 Mta to the unit’s annual capacity, bringing its total output to 1.5 Mta. The expansion is part of a broader BRL5bn investment program of the company, running from 2024-28, to boost market growth, competitiveness, alternative fuel usage, and the decarbonisation of the cement production. The capacity increase will coincide with the modernisation of the plant’s kiln line and the development of lower-emission cement technologies.
