Votorantim upgrades 2 cement plants in Brazil

Votorantim Cimentos announced plans to invest BRL330m (US$60m) to expand and modernize its Nobres and Cuiabá cement plants in Mato Grosso, Brazil. At Nobres (photo), a new cement mill will boost capacity by 60% from 0.75 to 1.2 Mta. The expansion will also add a new cement storage facility and logistics infrastructure. Additionally, at the Cuiabá plant, the company will install a tyre shredding plant to support sustainable waste disposal, co-processing at the cement plant and reduce CO2 emissions. The two construction projects will start this year and are expected to be completed by the end of 2026 and are expected to create more than 150 jobs in Mato Grosso state.
